Summary
PromptForge Voice Typing helps you insert dictated text into web forms in Google Chrome.
We designed the extension to process voice and typing locally whenever possible.
Data the extension handles
- Pairing code & port — stored only in
chrome.storage.local on your device so the extension can connect to the optional desktop companion.
- Popup voice dictation — processed by your browser’s built-in speech recognition (Google). We do not receive audio or transcripts on our servers.
- Phone bridge — when you use the PromptForge Android app with the desktop companion, text is sent over your local Wi‑Fi to your computer. PromptForge servers are not involved in that path.
- Text insertion — dictated text is inserted only into the field you focus in the active tab, when you explicitly start voice input.
What we do not collect
- We do not sell personal data.
- The extension does not track browsing history.
- The extension does not send page content to ColorDev unless you open prompt.colordev.art yourself.
Permissions
- storage — save your pairing settings locally.
- activeTab & scripting — insert text only when you trigger voice typing on the current tab.
- localhost (optional) — connect to the PromptForge desktop companion running on your own computer.
Third parties
Chrome’s speech recognition is provided by Google when you use popup dictation. See Google Privacy Policy.
